RE: Valve Stem Extensions for 2008 F450

I just ran across this thread while doing a Google search. I have the same problem with our new F450 that we picked up last week. Did the OP find an answer that worked for him? I tried the 45 degree extensions from Camping World but they didn't work. The 450 is definitely a different animal than the 350 when it comes to valve stem access on the inner wheels.

RE: Titanium RV's

Check out Titanium Owners Forum. You can find all the information you need there.
We used to own one. It was very durable after making it through the first year of small problems. Would probably own one now if the dealer hadn't been such a pain while negotiating for a new one.

RE: Went to the scales, but still stupid...

If you don't like to feel that you're in the way of the truckers, try a less busy scale. There are several scales at the Wildwood exit off of I-75. While the interchange is busy, the scales aren't usually busy because of the number. There is also a Pilot station with a scale at the Belleview exit. I know those locations are a bit north for you, but the next time you're in the vicinity, they could be an option.

RE: Glendale Titanium Question

Our former rig was a Titanium. It had a 49 gallon grey and a 49 gallon black tank. Being relatively conservative, we could go about 4 days before the grey was full. That included shower, lavatory, and kitchen usage. The black tank was never a problem.

RE: City Trees

In our area, the county is very good about coming out and trimming overhead branches to a 14' clearance when it's requested. Response may take up to two weeks but it gets done.

RE: Trip to Alaska..........?

Sure you can do it in that short a time. Here is how:
3 - When you get close to what you think you want to see, start the camera.
4 - Slow down as you drive by so the camera gets it all.
I was amazed at the number of times in Alaska while we were taking our time gazing at some beautiful vista, a car would pull up, a door would fly open, and one of the occupants would jump out, snap a picture, run back to the car, and take off.

RE: Teton Help

You may want to include the NuWa Champagne on your shopping list. A good solid well made rig. Dealer network is a little sparse depending on what part of the country you're in.

RE: BIGFOOT HYDRAULIC LEVELERS

Ours came as an option on our HH Champagne. Love the system. Makes setup so much easier and faster.
Like all fancy bells and whistles, they don't necessarily come without problems. We had a problem on the road, but Big Foot's phone support got us to where I could level it manually until we could bring it home for service.
Once you have the system, seems like you can't live without it.

RE: GPS Navigators for Fifth Wheel Owners

We have an older Garmin StreetPilot C330 that has the truck/bus setting. We realized it would do nothing for height restrictions but have been surprised at some of the doubletrack dirt roads it has tried to route us on to. In addition, it will try to direct you on to roads that are clearly marked for no trucks or oversize vehicles. Not sure what the option is supposed to do for the user, but it has been of no use to us beyond normal trip routing.

RE: Covering 5th wheel in south Florida- worth it?

We went the steel canopy route. Had a 20x40' built in our adjacent lot. Provides great protection from sun and rain as well as a sheltered place to maintain the rig.

RE: Trailer power amp services??

What happens if my trailer is a 30amp cord on it and the campground is a 50amp serivce? Can i still use that much power with a adpater plug?
No problem as long as you have the right adapter. More amps won't overload your rig. You can overload the service if you demand more amps than what's available.

RE: Top of the World Highway is it narrow

If you're nervous about the TOTW highway and have some schedule flexibility, here's the way we did it. We went west to east staying overnight in Chicken. Since the border crossing station at Poker Creek doesn't open until 8 a.m., there is little chance of any oncoming traffic before that hour. We got on the road from Chicken about 5 a.m. (remember, there'll be daylight in the summer) and made our way east, getting to the border about 7:40 a.m. That included a few sightseeing stops along the way. No traffic, no stress. This was in 2006. Don't know if schedules have changed since that time or not.

RE: surge protector prohibiting generator from powering RV?

Does your surge suppressor have a display. If so, is the voltage reading within the range that the device allows current to flow? And what is the delay set at on the protector, 15 seconds or 136 seconds?

RE: 5th wheel barn

I'd use jamvir's advice. Dig a little dip to clear the ac unit and drive on in.
I think the original poster referred to a 'cement pad'.

RE: Generator/Electrical Question

One time my automatic transfer switch didn't switch over to the generator. My solution was to turn off the generator then restart it. Problem went away.

RE: Does anyone know if you can customize a Carriage Cameo?

If the dealer can't give you an answer, try contacting the manufacturer directly. They likely won't discuss price, but they should be able to tell you if they can do it.
The Tampa Supershow is later this week. Maybe Carriage will have a factory rep on site that could help you.

RE: A portable/counter top ice maker in your unit?

We bought a small icemaker (WindChaser) from Camping World a couple of years ago. Does a great job of making ice quickly. However, the internal fan is somewhat noisy. I wouldn't want it to run at night in the confines of the rig. Tabs on the rear plastic panel didn't hold up to the rigors of bouncing around. A few broke off but panel still stays in place.
